You’re considering employment at a hospital. You’ve been offered partnership with a group practice. The offer is sitting on your desk, waiting for review, analysis, and negotiation. This is an extremely important moment. Your contract will have an enormous effect on your professional success and career satisfaction. But the contract was written by the employer’s attorneys, to protect the employer’s interests. How well do you understand the document?
You need an experienced, respected, and responsive lawyer for doctors.
How much control will you have over your schedule? Should there be productivity-based compensation, and what would a fair system look like? If the practice loses physicians, will there be any limit to your call coverage obligations? Who will pay for tail insurance coverage? Are there non-competition and non-solicitation covenants? How easy is it for the hospital to terminate your contract, and does that give you enough job security? Worst of all, is there something important that’s missing?
You may be tempted to seek help from an attorney you already know. But unless that attorney happens to have an expertise in employment law and has studied physician contracts at length, you are going to the wrong specialist.
You may be tempted to use a cut-rate contracts shop. Low rates are tempting! But now is not the time to cut corners. Your situation, your needs, and your goals are unique and should be given the expert attention they deserve.
The attorneys at The Reinstein Law Firm will take the time to speak with you in person, for as long as you need. They will give your contract their focused, thorough, personal review, help you understand what you’re getting into and what changes are important to you, and create a negotiation strategy designed to achieve your goals.
We have the experience, knowledge, and skill to help you understand – and even improve – your contract.
Ezra is fantastic! I first worked with him in 2014 for the contract review and negotiation of my first post-fellowship job, and I have sought out his advice for two subsequent contract negotiations since then (most recently, this year). He is my go-to person for contract negotiations. Ezra is a consummate professional who is very thorough and very responsive. I sincerely appreciate his guidance in explaining the relevance of each section of my contract in a layperson’s terms and making very specific recommendations for changing language to both meet common standards and to protect me. I have nothing but good things to say about The Reinstein Law Firm!!!! Extremely professional, courteous, and most important, always available from day ONE!!!!!!! Ezra personally helped me out with a very complicated issue. Such a wonderful job was done that I will continue to seek their legal services all the way from Texas! Thank you so much for all that you’ve done, truly.
Ezra helped me with contract analysis/severance agreement review. I would highly recommend him. He is knowledgeable and easy to talk to. The communication is clear and he is very prompt in replying to your questions. For contract analysis he was able to break down the language to help me understand the impact it might have. He was able to give me time to explain and understand the issues, which is very important.
If you are starting a new job, changing career, and negotiating – get Ezra.
I had an outstanding experience with Reinstein Law, and they are not the first firm I’ve worked with, so I like to think my opinion is informed. Ezra is responsive, personable, thorough, efficient, clear, and concise. He is meticulous in his preparation and an outstanding communicator. I am deeply impressed by his intellect and command of the law. Our time together was worth every minute and dollar, and I will work with no one else for any of my future contract work.
I was referred to Ezra from one of my future partners for help with my contract negotiation as she had been very happy with his work on her contract. He was very helpful in reviewing the contract and knowing where the company would negotiate a seemingly ‘boiler plate’ contract. He was very thorough and his suggestions were spot on. He was very professional, easy to get a hold of, and timely in his responses. He was happy to speak with me outside of normal business hours, which was very helpful. His prices were also very fair/reasonable. Overall he did a great job and I would definitely recommend him to a friend or colleague.

I often receive calls from people who have some fears about hiring a legal practitioner. Usually, they’re in the early stages of negotiating some sort of business relationship, and they think they might need a lawyer’s advice, but they’re worried that the very act of hiring a Boston healthcare attorney is going to irritate, or offend, or even anger the other side.
Does that describe you? Please give me a minute to try to set your mind at ease.
